World Exposition (add-on)
In 1988 the World's attention was focused on Australia thanks the World Exposition that took place in Melbourne. One mission requires the player to deliver all the materials needed for the construction of the building in good time. Not an easy task!

Olive plantation
Many European scenarios will show olive plantations. Once harvested, the olives are taken to the oil mill.
back

Oil mill
Oil mills are used to make olives into high-quality olive oil. The olives should obviously be taken there while they are still fresh to assure a high level of quality.

The Statue of Liberty
Do we need to explain this structure? Everybody knows it, many have already seen it, and even more people still want to visit it. It would therefore be a good opportunity for an enterprising haulage contractor to take as many passengers there as possible for a fair fee.
back

Distillery
The distillery needs large amounts of sugarcane for producing liquor. There's probably no need to explain where you'll find buyers for this product!
back

Roasting house
If you deliver coffee beans to a roasting house, you can then take the coffee to the consumers in the towns. You should make haste when taking the fresh beans to the roasting house, but you can take your time with coffee that is already roasted and packed.

Fertilizer factory
Delivering fertilizer to farms will significantly increase their crop production. So this is a good opportunity to put a large transport capacity to effective use.
back

Paint factory
Deliver chemicals to the paint factory to manufacture all these paints, which are used for many things, including vehicles. Go to the big towns to find buyers for your paints.

Theme casino
Nowadays, gambling alone is just not enough. Casino owners are aiming to offer their valued customers more and more additional entertainment. Therefore, today's casinos are built in any imaginable shape, even resembling glass pyramids.
To the haulage contractor, it's all the same. The main thing to him is that as many people as possible wish to be taken to these temples of leisure.

Botanical gardens Whenever it's grey and miserable outside, a visit to the botanical gardens will help chase away any rising depression. And the haulier will be happy to hear the cash tills ringing too, thanks to plenty of paying passengers.

Brickworks Most of you will have guessed it: Of course clay is used for making bricks! The bricks are taken straight to the consumer to be used as a building material.
back

Clay pit Clay is one of man's oldest raw materials. This valuable material has been dug up from clay pits for thousands of years. While the methods of extracting clay have been modernized and optimized over the years, the material itself is often still used for the exact same purpose as ever. Look out for our next update to see what clay is used for.

Household articles factory The last link in the chain of aluminum production is the factory for household articles. This is where various articles for everyday use are produced. The products are taken straight from the factory to the consumers in the towns.
back

Aluminum works Last week, we introduced a bauxite mine. Consequently, this week it's the turn of the aluminum works. The bauxite is taken to the aluminum works, where the aluminum is extracted. Next week we'll add the last link in the chain and demonstrate what the aluminum is used for.
back

Bauxite mine How are raw materials being mined, and what are they made into? Let's take a closer look into this with the example of a complete production line.
Our demonstration begins with a mine that extracts bauxite. Next week's update will then show how it is processed.

The carpenter's shop
Lumberjack camps fell the trees. At sawmills the trunks are cut into planks and finally used for wooden houses by the skillful workers of carpenter shops.

The Eiffel Tower In keeping with our vehicle of the week, today we are presenting you with a no less famous building in the capital of France.
back

Ore mine These mines extract the raw material needed to produce innumerable tons of steel. Ore, being very heavy, requires powerful transport vehicles. Therefore, ore trains are frequently linked up with several locomotives at once.

Hops farm No beer without hops. That would really be a true loss for the average European. It is therefore no wonder that a hops farm is featured in the European scenarios of Transport Giant.
Everyone can thus transport hops to the brewery so that they can be used to produce tasty beer. The cunning entrepreneur then transports this to the surrounding towns and earns a fortune from the thirst of the town-dwellers.

Space center A space center is not only a hub of modern technology but also attracts hordes of visitors. Should you be so lucky to find this type of publicity attraction near your transport paths, you should seriously consider setting up a passenger line.

Refineries Last week we had a look at oil wells, tankers and many more things. This time we will take the chance to have a look a refinery. Many products are produced from crude oil in this industry. In the case of Transport Giant we will limit ourselves to probably the best known product – the refineries thus only produce gasoline.
back

Oil well The black gold does not come out of the earth on its own. Oil wells are used for tapping the valuable raw material. And since oil wells are seldom located directly next to a refinery, transportation is a good business to be in. Whether one chooses to use convoys of trucks or rather a long train depends on the local conditions and is perhaps also a matter of personal taste.

Ice plant There was a time when both computers and refrigerators were unheard of. So what did they do to cool their food? That's very simple: They took a so-called icebox, regularly filled it with fresh ice... and hey presto, you've got the predecessor to our refrigerator. At the time, there was a whole industry in the business of delivering the ice right to the doorstep.

Sawmill The sawmill turns bulky tree trunks into handy boards that can be used to make a great variety of things.
Delivering tree trunks to the sawmills is a good opportunity to make a lot of money relatively quickly – especially at the start of a game.
back

Fruit plantation The fruit trees grow in orderly lines, and in fall the branches bow under the load of their healthy and popular fruit. After the harvest, the warehouses are crammed, and the fruit must quickly be taken to the consumers in the towns.
It goes without saying that our fruit plantations grow nothing but strictly controlled organic produce.

Slaughterhouse Many children nowadays seem to think that meat is grown in supermarkets. Well, those who like playing TransportGiant might be in for a nasty surprise. After all, most pigs take their last breath in slaughterhouses. Only to end up as juicy pork chops on the plate of hungry carnivorous humans.
At least, unnecessarily long animal transports will not be rewarded with big profits in the game. Hauliers who transport pigs too slowly over too long a distance will have to reckon with serious profit shortfalls.

Cement factory Nobody likes them in the vicinity to their homes, but everybody needs them. Cement factories are the backbone of our modern building industry.
But there can be no production without raw materials. The resourceful entrepreneur will therefore busily take gravel to the factories, and make a tidy sum this way.

Brickworks If you're looking for a really profitable job, try taking clay to the brickworks. There is hardly any pressure of time, and the prices they pay aren't bad at all.
Carriers loath missing any business openings, can seize the opportunity and take the finished bricks straight on to the towns.

Paper-Mill Got the capability to deliver a great amount of wood? But the sawmills won't buy enough from you? In that case, you'll find another buyer for this raw material in the paper-mill, and nothing will stand in the way of further expansion anymore.

Fish farm
Fresh fish should be put on the table once a week. That's the healthy motto of the inhabitants of the world of TransportGiant, and they appreciate their regular deliveries of fresh fish.
No question that the transport shouldn't take unduly long. A situation can soon turn nasty when things start to smell fishy.
back

Brewery
Having diligently delivered loads of hops to the brewery, you may then sell beer to the thirsty population. Needless to say this beverage will be around for a long time and will ensure a continuing need for transport.
However, there have been times when every alcoholic drink was disapproved of. It might be wiser, therefore, not to put all your money into this one product.
back

Cattle farm
Happy cows in a meadow indicate to the hauler that this area might offer an opportunity to get hold of a lucrative load or two. A quick transportation of milk to the nearest dairy can earn you a lot of cash.
back

Sugar cane plantation
Many people have become rich by growing sugar cane. You too can do it! Of course, you won't have to concern yourself with growing and harvesting. Simply take sugar cane to the nearest distillery. Insist that they pay you in cash, not in kind!
back

Dairy
Good tasting, healthy dairy products are made in the dairy from the milk of well-kept cows. Money can of course be made from healthy things. Fill up your tanker with milk, transport it to the dairy and then bring the dairy produce into the cities. It feels good to do a good deed and to earn money at the same time.

Taj Mahal
He who asks what the Taj Mahal is doing in America or Europe, has obviously never visited a theme park. It's not the original of course but a replica. Built by clever businessmen to attract tourists. The clever transport mogul doesn't ask these sort of questions anyway but just considers how he can best transport these masses.

Garbage incineration
The cities are getting bigger, there's more garbage and the dumps are full. Where can all this rubbish be taken to? Perhaps garbage incineration is the answer to the problem. Garbage transportation could solve a few financial problems for you without doubt.
back

Garbage dump
Garbage is produced wherever people are. Perhaps you agree with the election slogan of the old Romans “Money doesn't stink”. If so you could stand to earn a fair bit transporting garbage from the cities to the garbage dump.

Foundry
In the foundry, copper ore is smelted into sheet copper. The transport of copper ore again requires not fast but powerful vehicles.
Sheet copper can be used to manufacture household goods and, later, components for your electronics industry. So, with some careful planning, you could organise the whole transport, from the raw materials supplier to the end consumer – but watch out for the different demands on your vehicles!

Distillery
Bread is not the only thing you can make out of grain. What would a proper cowboy do without his whiskey? Deliver grain to a distillery to make sure that your cowboys will never run out of something to drink.
Take care, however, that your delivery doesn't take too long so that your grain is ruined. Otherwise, you will not only forego your money for the delivery – you'll also run the risk that an incensed gun-slinger will challenge you to a duel.

The White House
Now what on earth is the White House doing in a transport game? Well, that's easy: Your villages and towns are inhabited by hordes of tourists eagerly waiting to visit this edifice. It might well be worth your while, therefore, to establish a regular passenger transport service for this special purpose.
back

Oil-fired power station
A relatively easy method to make money consists of delivering mineral oil to oil-fired power stations. All you need for this are robust vehicles. What is important here is not a speedy delivery but the amount you can deliver.
Let's hope, then, that your suppliers will not suddenly have to close their gates due to scarcity of raw materials.

Coffee Plantation
This is the manor house of a thriving coffee plantation. It goes to show that you can make a tidy profit by selling coffee.
Providing the weather plays along, the coffee beans are brought to the coffee roasters, who will pay you a good price for your shipment. You'll obtain an even better price if you transport the ready-ground coffee to the end users in their villages and towns.
back

Waterworks
Long gone are the times, in most places anyway, when water could be fetched straight from the well. Nowadays waterworks are necessary to purify the precious liquid so people can drink it without hesitation.
The water is brought to the towns with tank wagons or tankers. You shouldn't dawdle with this load: water that's gone stale isn't very sought-after.

Coal Mine
This is where the pitmen, mining black gold, are slaving away below the ground. When you're transporting coal, it's not speed that counts but the amount you deliver, so the use of heavy-duty freight locomotives makes real sense here. You can sell your coal to power stations.
So, make sure that the furnaces keep burning. That'll keep the cash coming in.
