| | One of the most prominent features of TransportGiant is its vast number of different vehicles. Here, we'll introduce some select vehicles from all areas every week.
|

Road train Bertha (add-on)
This is the first vehicle that really deserves to be called a road train. It was first seen careering along Australia's roads in 1947.

Valvo semi-trailer
If you want to use trucks, carefully consider their purpose and the goods you need them for before rushing off to buy one. If you get the wrong one, you cannot simply exchange bodies.
There are dry-bulk containers, tanker bodies, stake bodies and box bodies. Most mineral resources, and also products like corn, are transported in dry-bulk containers. If you want to transport wood or steel, you will need stake bodies. For liquid goods you will need tanker bodies of course, while all other products are taken across the country in box bodies.
From 1987 this modern semi-trailer is available in all four different versions.

DEB VT97.9
High-capacity high-speed trains will hardly be encountered on branch-line tracks. On the contrary, railroad companies will endeavor to economize and therefore employ means of transport adequate for the required traffic volume.
This railcar, also affectionately called "piglet taxi" in the vernacular, was the result of such endeavors, and has been used on branch-line tracks over a long period of time.

Heyland National
Compared with a railroad line, the investment for a bus route is rather low. This vehicle will often pay off even with a low volume of passengers, allowing the haulage contractor to profit from it for a long time thanks to its high reliability and low failure rate.

Airspace AS 332 Superpuma
Helicopters can be used for various transport needs. Their capacity for transporting passengers is rather limited, but here's a hot tip: how about using them for transporting mail?

Boing 707 Cargo
The first big freight plane in the game is the Boing 707. In comparison with trains, this cargo plane has only limited capacity, but its speed more than makes up for this.

Kreus-Moffei ML4000
As in the previous week, we present a vehicle in all the different possible paint coats. This time it's a less well-known American locomotive.

In all colors
In the game you can choose whether you'd like to play with vehicles displaying the original paintwork or with vehicles in company colors. This Austrian Taurus shows all the paints that are on offer.

Goodday Zeppelin
Where else would you find a train with a design like that but in the United States! No wonder that this passenger train was famed in its time. Even those who usually can't be bothered to take any notice of a train will not be able to resist a double-take here.

OBB 4010 Transalpin This is one of the best-known passenger trains of the 1960's in Austria. It has – for its time – extremely high speeds and luxurious interior features making it extremely popular with travelers.

General cargo vessel In keeping with the building of the week, we are presenting you with another version of the ship make that you are already familiar with. If you want to transport bricks by ship, you need a general cargo vessel.

Bulk goods freighter To the attentive observer and regular visitor of our homepage this ship might look somewhat familiar. And they wouldn't be wrong: It has been published before in the oil tanker version.
This time, we show the bulk goods freighter version. It becomes obvious, then, that ships need to be purchased with regard to their intended purpose.

Boing 747 Cargo The Boing 747 is sold in two versions. What you see here is the cargo version. The plane may seem huge, but compared to a train, it has a relatively low capacity.

Thoroughbreds The first locos in the game are anything but fast. This might make a horse and cart using thoroughbreds for passenger transport seem the better alternative.
back

Oxen Hauliers with heavy loads to transport at the beginning of the game don't necessarily have to use railroads in the early days of their venture. Carts pulled by oxen may well be a better choice particularly for covering short distances.

Grancorde Who would have thought but a few years ago that this magnificent modern aircraft would already be looked upon with nostalgia? History or not, in TransportGiant hauliers can still employ the prestigious Concorde even in 2004. That is if they are not put off by the horrendous running costs.

SNBF TGV The TGV is probably the best-known high-speed train in Europe. The investment for this up-to-date and fast train may seem a little alarming at first, but with high passenger numbers, this money will probably prove to be well spent in the end.

Diesel loco V200 With the German production series V 200 we are introducing an all-purpose high-performance locomotive. It boasts a relatively high speed in addition to sufficient tractive power and is therefore suited for freight traffic as well as passenger transport.

Ontonav On-225 Mrija The largest airplane in the world, the gigantic six-engined Ontonav On-225 Mrija, is only something for transport entrepreneurs who have extraordinary requirements with regard to transport capacity. In real life, these airplanes are used for the transportation of rocket elements. We do not want to place such limitations on the players, and thus it is possible to use these airplanes to transport enormous quantities of conventional goods.

Zeppelin This mighty airship originates directly from the workshop of the famous Graf Zeppelin. As one of the last models built, it broke all records with respect to size, speed and transport capacity.
Despite various disadvantages compared to other means of transport, we are convinced that it will find a worthy place and many friends to go with it in this game.

EMT BL2 The BL2 is one of the most unusual locomotives in the history of the American railroad. It was conceived as an ancillary train locomotive and could therefore be used both for light goods traffic as well for passenger traffic. Its unusual form is due to the attempt to make this train interesting and attractive for passenger traffic.
Although it wasn't really one of the really successful locomotives, it still marks the transition from the older conventional design of the diesel locomotive to the later more modern form of the shunting locomotives.

Oil tanker It is well known that oil is often transported over long distances. The development of the oil tanker has revolutionized the transportation of incredible quantities of crude oil by water. Often unfortunately to the detriment of the environment but we assume that you will always maintain your oil tankers up to the latest technical standards as a responsible entrepreneur.

Heisler 2-truck This time, we'd like to introduce a locomotive that was rarely found in Europe. In the USA around the year 1900, however, this model was extremely popular. It is equipped with an unusual transmission type. A driveshaft is connected with the wheels via gears. This is why these locos are also called geared locomotives.
This vehicle was mainly used for moving timber. They could also frequently be found on narrow-gage tracks.
back

Bestchild C82 This airplane was mainly used to transport materials and troops. The reason why we decided to make this plane available to TransportGiants is its unusual shape and the fact that it was also used by civil air carriers for airfreighting their goods.

Boldwin 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler The 4-4-0 American was just about omnipresent in the American railroad scene in the mid 1900s. Thanks to its universal applicability, this locomotive was so successful that it didn't have any real successors for a very long time. The 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler was basically very similar in its design, but had larger power reserves. With the introduction of this type of locomotive, wood as a fuel was replaced more and more by coal or heavy oil.

Apel Blitz One of the best-known trucks of the 20th century in large parts of Europe. This truck was renowned for its high reliability and - for the time - considerable efficiency. Small wonder, then, that this vehicle could be found in a great number of motor pools. Some experts say that this was the first really modern truck.

Acera HHP8 With the help of one of the most up-to-date American locomotives there should be no problem building up a flourishing passenger transport service between big cities. Speed, running costs, reliability... everything fits. But then, you might have had to wait for this vehicle for almost 140 game years.

DEB E69 Are you looking for a way of transporting a small number of passengers over short distances without making a financial loss? Are you a fan of branch lines? In either case we would recommend this vehicle. Its appearance alone indicates its intended purpose and its modest purchase price.

Rail car CRM 80 In principle, this is a bus on tracks. Take a conventional bus, remove its wheels, put it on a railroad chassis, adjust the engine-transmission assembly and the steering system a bit – and hey presto, you've got a rail car! Its original looks and reasonable purchase cost make this vehicle hugely popular.

FFS E626 The electric locomotive that this model has been based on has left its mark on the appearance of the Italian national railway for many years.
Thanks to its considerable tractive power, we are sure that it'll attract many fans in the game as well.

Airspace SE313 Alouette This small and maneuverable helicopter can be used to transport people from one heliport to the next. It goes without saying that helicopters are not suitable for high passenger traffic. However, the use of these vehicles can turn out to be quite profitable with a small number of passengers and nature's obstacles that are expensive to overcome by traditional means of transport.
And even if it doesn't – why, a successful hauler can afford a little prestige object every now and then for the sheer fun of it, can't he?!

Kord TT The Kord TT was an outstanding success not only as an automobile. The truck version soon became popular as well.
Being the first truck in the game, there is no doubt that it will instantly be welcomed and become a best-seller.

PAe 2/4 Red Arrow The well-known and popular Red Arrow is a most unusual traction vehicle.
From 1935 these vehicles were for many years typical for shortline railroad tracks with low passenger traffic in Switzerland. In TransportGiant, these vehicles will be available from 1938 – though only in European scenarios.

GM PD 4501 Bluehound Who doesn't know them, these striking American coaches with their conspicuous silver design! The coaches were designed, built and painted according to the plans of the American star designer Raymond Loewy (who also designed the Coca-Cola bottle amongst other things). Their interior fittings with 32 seats, 8 spaces at the bar, air-conditioning, toilet and stereo system left nothing to be desired.

Jonkers 52 The well-known Ju 52 can be used as a first airplane for passenger transport. It is easily recognizable with its three motors and above all its eye-catching corrugated iron design. Passengers in those days did not yet complain about the high noise levels.

PERR GG1 With this vehicle, we are introducing one of the probably best-known American electric locomotives. Its characteristic shape and powerful appearance will be remembered by anyone who has seen it.
An economical engine for passenger trains or light freight trains, it is employed to the fullest satisfaction of its operators and mostly without any major break-downs.

Full-rig ship Flying Cloud In 1850, there is no trace of our modern ships yet. But who could deny the fascination of a traditional sailing vessel such as the magnificent Flying Cloud? This ship stand out for its loading capacity, which was considerable for the time, and for its great reliability even in heavy seas.
Due to the high number of staff, its operating cost is, of course, relatively high.

Boldwin RF16 Sharknose The avant-garde design alone should be reason enough to integrate at least one model of this series in your fleet of locomotives.
This extraordinary engine is extremely well suited for heavy freight trains. The somewhat high maintenance costs are the only flaw in this otherwise superb model.

Northern Star three-axle semitrailer From 1987, this new lorry wins the hearts of all carriers. Its tremendous power, its extensive safety equipment, its gratifyingly low consumption and maintenance costs as well as numerous driver conveniences make it the vehicle of choice for any innovative fleet of vehicles.

OBB 1016 Taurus This modern locomotive will be available in the game from the year 2001.
The Taurus is one of the most progressive electric locomotives in the world. This powerful and fast locomotive, equipped with a consistent modular design and state-of-the-art control electronics, can be used for any purpose and in any situation. This engine goes a long way towards facilitating the railway companies' endeavour to restrain the great variety of models in favour of a better servicing and maintenance of their transport fleet.
With the exception of specialised high-speed trains, this locomotive is the engine of choice for practically any purpose.

Bay Ptl 2/2 Glaskastl The Bavarian Glaskastl is a highly unconventional but very well-known model. It got its name ("glass box") from the fact that the side windows were unusually large.
Thanks to its half-automatic coal supply, this locomotive could be operated with just one crew member. This made it ideal for the operation of local trains, where cost saving was more important than high traction power and speed.
From 1902 this little locomotive can be employed for short passenger trains or light freight trains. Its operation costs are gratifyingly low.

OBB 1189 Krokodil This remarkable electric locomotive will be available from 1919 - four years sooner than it was in reality.
These unusual articulated locomotives, in the vernacular lovingly nicknamed "crocodiles" because of their looks, were a domain of Switzerland really, but here we decided to include the Austrian version.
This extremely powerful engine is suited for passenger trains as well as long freight trains, if a little liable to break down due to its articulation and driving rods. Its cornering speed leaves something to be desired.

Crampton "Die Pfalz" The Crampton "Pfalz" will be one of the game's first locomotives, available from the year 1852. Its relatively high speed makes it an ideal engine for the first passenger trains.
Its windscreens make it particularly popular with the engine drivers, who can now for the first time do their job protected from the rigours of the weather.
